We’re delighted to share that we will be bringing 2022 to an end by welcoming two new businesses to the BES Group.  Strainstall UK and Mimic have joined us from James Fisher and Sons plc, global provider of specialised services to the marine, energy and defence indusries worldwide.

Strainstall UK is an onshore and offshore load and asset monitoring company, with Mimic a provider of intelligent condition and performance monitoring solutions, predominantly in the maritime sector.  Their skill set and product offering makes them a great fit for BES Asset Reliability and will really strengthen this important and growing part of our business.

Finding companies that share our customer focused approach and put safety above everything else, continues to be important to us and we’re extremely excited to have done just that with Strainstall UK and Mimic. Together, they will add around 80 fantastic people to our team, and we’re delighted to have them on board.

These are the ninth and tenth businesses we’ve added to the BES Group since 2019 and our fourth and fifth this year alone.  We’ve worked hard to ensure we are growing in a way that supports the needs of our customers, providing them with access to even more of the very best risk management solutions supplied by an enhanced team of the very best people.

2022 has already been another busy and exciting year for the British Engineering Services Group.  As we continue to focus on our customers and our people, 2023 is set to be just as busy.

Ongoing growth to help ensure we can always give our customers the very best testing, inspection, certification and compliance (TICC) services will continue to be a focus for our company.  To help us deliver this in the most effective way, we are pleased to share that we have welcomed two new people to our senior team.

John Lennox has joined us as Group Chief Operating Officer.  He will be instrumental in helping ensure we are always delivering against our customer’s needs.  He is looking forward to leading an extended team that works alongside our customers to ensure we are focused on their TICC priorities, with no compromise.

Walter Rowe has also joined us as Group Technical Director.  Walter will have overall responsibility for driving a number of our business objectives including ensuring the safety and security of our customers, people and assets.

Our Senior Team

Both John and Walter will report directly to John Campbell, who joined us as Group CEO earlier this year.  James Reeves, Group Chief Financial Officer, Hannah Mather, Group HR Director, John Breheny, Group Corporate Development Director and Paul Trivett, Interim Group Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, will work alongside John and Walter as the Group’s Senior Executive Leadership Team, also reporting to John Campbell.

Both this and our wider senior team continue to be extremely important to our business.  They are instrumental in delivering the very best customer experience and we’re proud to have them onboard.  We look forward to working closely with our customers, as always, over the coming weeks, months, and years!

As we approach the seventh anniversary of British Engineering Services, we’re delighted to share that we will soon be welcoming a new Group CEO to the team.  John Campbell will join us on 1st September and will work with our Executive Team to help drive the ongoing success of our growing company.

John comes to us from Modulaire Group where he has spent three and a half years as UK Group Managing Director.  Prior to this, he was with G4S in Managing Director roles for both the UK and Ireland for almost five years.  He is extremely experienced when it comes to leading businesses and puts the success of the companies he has helped develop over recent years, down to fantastic teams.

Having been heavily involved in driving strategic business growth during his career, he is particularly excited by our active acquisition strategy.  Adding new companies to our Group brings an enhanced range of the very best risk management services for our customers and John is looking forward to seeing these grow even further over the coming months and years.

Stewart Kay has led the British Engineering Services Group since it became an independent business in 2015. The company has enjoyed remarkable success in this time, welcoming eight brilliant new businesses, growing our team to over 1,000 of the very best people, opening the industry leading Paul Forrester Training Centre and helping make sure our many customers leave nothing to chance.

We’re delighted to share that XEIAD, specialist engineering inspection consultancy with expertise in specialist access, has now joined the British Engineering Services Group.

The XEIAD team is made up of more than 200 people all working across a number of sectors including transportation, utilities, renewables and many, many more, inspecting structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, tunnels and shafts.  Their engineers are skilled and experienced in rope access, diving and confined spaces and complete a huge range of Inspections, Assessments, Surveys, Non-Destructive Testing & Intrusive Investigations, Design and Project Management, helping make sure their customers leave nothing to chance.

This is the eighth company we’ve added to the British Engineering Services Group since 2019 and the third this year.  XEIAD is a great fit for our Group and will enhance our industry leading suite of risk management services and grow our fantastic team of specialists.

Paul Capener, XEIAD Managing Director, will continue to lead the team, who are spread across offices in Devon, York, Swindon and Derby and at customer locations all over the UK.

We’re delighted to welcome Notus Heavy Lift Solutions to our growing Group as we continue to focus on helping make sure our customers leave nothing to chance.   They specialise in delivering Heavy Lift and Transport Consultancy services, Lifting Assurance, Planning and Execution of Lifting Operations and are a brilliant addition to our business.  Their work spans across a number of sectors, including renewables and nuclear, and their team is integral to several high-profile projects including EDF Energy’s Hinkley Point C Project, the first Nuclear Power Station to be built in the UK in many years.

We’re excited to welcome James Reeves to the British Engineering Services group as Group Chief Financial Officer.

We’re excited to welcome James Reeves to the British Engineering Services group as Group Chief Financial Officer.

James comes to us from international insurance company, Liberty Specialty Markets, where he spent more than seven years in senior roles, including his most recent position as Deputy Chief Financial Officer.  He is both extremely experienced in our sector and has been heavily involved in Liberty’s strategic activity including their significant organic and acquisition driven growth.  We know this will be beneficial in helping us deliver our plans for 2022 and beyond as we continue to grow our Group.

Before joining Liberty, James spent six years with RSA Insurance where he first developed his understanding of the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) industry. During this time, he was instrumental in helping expand their European offering, positioning businesses for profit and implementing a new financial control framework.

On top of his day-to-day CFO role, James has also joined our Executive Team.  He will be involved in helping shape the future of our company as we continue to position ourselves for a brilliant future.

We’re extremely pleased to share that Proviso Systemscondition-based maintenance (CBM) expertis the latest company to join the Group.  Adding Proviso Systems to our growing business will really enhance our customer offering in this specialist field, further strengthening the platform we built with the acquisition of PCMS Eng Group at the end of last year. 

Our customers are really benefiting from an extended suite of services and bringing Proviso onboard will reinforce this even further Our acquisitive growth continues to be in line with our customers’ needs and we know maximising machinery efficiency with the very best CBM solutions is something there is an appetite for.  With PCMS Eng Group and Proviso Sytems now part of the Group, we can truly provide our customers with an end-to-end risk management service in one place, a first in our industry,” said Gareth Hilton, Chief Commercial Officer. 

Proviso Systems was formed in 1995 and has gone from strength to strength ever since.  Its ongoing focus has been to provide an ‘innovative approach to condition-based maintenance’ and ultimately improve operational efficiency for their customers.  Their innovative approach to technology is impressive and has undoubtedly given them a competitive edge in their field.  They provide an extensive range of services to help keep their customers machinery healthy and operational with  vibration analysisthermography and oil analysis just some of the more frequently used techniques.

The South Shield based Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) business will help strengthen our existing NDT offering as we continue to position ourselves for ongoing growth.  Like our specialist Salford based team, AWL provides their customers with services including magnetic particle, liquid penetrant and ultrasonic testing and have extensive experience with pipeline projects.

Established in 1987, the family run business has a fantastic reputation for always delivering the very best service.  They’re focused on the safety of their customers and already share the British Engineering Services Group priority of helping make Britain and Ireland a safer place.

Who we work with is everything to us and we love working with companies that take risk as seriously as we do.  That’s just one of the many reasons we’re delighted to announce that Lantei Ltd has joined the British Engineering Services Group.  With a focus on keeping their customers safe and legally compliant, their priorities as a business are closely aligned to those of our wider company and we’re extremely excited to have them onboard.

Lantei is an electrical testing business based in Preston with a team of almost 150 people.  The company’s North West roots and drive for managing risk for their customers makes them a great fit for the British Engineering Services Group as we continue to focus on growth and development.

Along with electrical testing, Lantei provides specialist services including thermal imaging, emergency light testing, EV charging, portable appliance testing, TEGG Services, professional training via Lantei Learning and more.  Their team of 80 Engineers is spread across the UK in line with the requirements of their customers.  They work with many large and high-profile businesses including David Lloyd fitness, Nuffield Health, Marriott Hotels, many NHS Trusts and Housing Associations and much, much more.
